vid title: All These Things That I've Done
music: The Killers
duration: 3:51
notes: After a conversation with
beccatoria about the duality of the sleeper Cylon (the final four - Saul Tight, Sam Anders, Tory Foster, and Galan Tyrol), I wondered how they saw themselves. I think Tigh sees himself as two people, while Tory sees herself as "becoming" her real self with the knowledge of her true nature. Tory is an extremely complex and interesting character that I had to explore her in vid form for the manifesto challenge.

TWITTERSODES
Nov. 11th, 2008 11:31 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
Much like twitter itself, the anarchic twitteRPG seen here continues to evolve and captivate in unpredictable ways despite its many limitations and erratic uptime. Twitter's capacity to support diverse forms of communication and creativity far beyond its stated purpose has garnered a lot of attention, particularly for those uses that are collective and emergent -- fictional characters included. While the remarkable coterie of Mad Men twitterers have deservedly gotten the most press, our Battlestar Galactica network also hit the blogosphere, where Infocult described it as "on the chaotic end of Web 2.0 storytelling, with authorship and IP fairly open." If you'd like to hear more about my experiences with the project, here's the videoblog:

vid - Cylon Runner
Aug. 25th, 2008 06:37 pm![[identity profile]](https://www.dreamwidth.org/img/silk/identity/openid.png)
vid title: Cylon Runner
audio: Blade Runner: The Final Cut trailer
source: Battlestar Galactica
duration: 1:06
summary: Faux Battlestar Galactica trailer using Blade Runner
notes: When planning out what I wanted to do with each of challenges, I knew I wanted to create a faux trailer for challenge 06 - hybrid. I've noticed a recurring cross-pollination among my interest in robots. Earlier this year I created a Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles vid, Does Cameron Dream of Electric Sheep?, which was a reference to the book, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?, the basis for Blade Runner.
Through conversations with other members of the community, it became apparent that Blade Runner was the obvious choice. Battlestar Galactica certainly owes a great deal to Blade Runner in terms of theme and idea. They both deal with implanted memories, vague questioning of being human, love, and other aspects. With the Cylon, they have their own culture, faith, justice, ideas, and history. They are not human, but what is so wonderful about being human? Why is it so important that we consider and question whether the Cylon are "more human than human"? As
beccatoria has mentioned, the difference between Battlestar Galactica and Blade Runner was the nature of the robots. For her, the existence of replicants never "clouded what it actually meant to be human". I thought about that for a bit because I agreed, yet I think that while the existence of robots don't always call the essence of humanity into question, they at least can make humanity question themselves.
I had almost completed the vid and was in need of static source. Everyone in The Know knows to go to
bradcpu for static source, but he was luckily out the door to VVC. I was still debating what to name the fake trailer.
projectjulie sent me a friend request on imeem, which then made me watch everything on her account. I found her season three BSG vblog in which she refers to an aspect of BSG, Cylon Runner, so Bang! there's my title.

For the bonus challenge - Cylon Xing because I think the final Cylon should be an obscenely hot woman. That woman is Megan Fox, who is the perfect balance of hot and trashy.
